Hello, welcome to day 26 of my Blogtober Challenge. Throughout October I’m writing a post everyday based on a prompt that I have been given. Today’s title is “My 10 all time favourite songs.”
Skyfall – Adele
This is an emotional one. When Sam was a baby he suddenly got very ill and we had to rush him to the hospital. He had lots of tests and was admitted overnight. When he woke up in the morning his condition had stabalised and it was clear that he was going to be okay. I remember picking him up out of the big hospital cot, hugging him tight and feeling filled with relief. Skyfall was playing on the radio in the background. This song takes me straight back to that moment.
Son of a Preacher Man – Dusty Springfield
This song is so cool. It feels like I have known it forever. I always try to sing it at karaoke and can never do it justice. Sorry Dusty Springfield I have ruined your song on many ocasions.
Praise You – Fat Boy Slim
This song reminds me of my student days of drinking and dancing the nights away. I love the video too.
Fast Car – Tracy Chapman
I love the beautiful and sad lyrics of this song. It reminds me of a girls weekend I had many years ago. One of the girls that I worked with at the time had called off her wedding at the last minute. On the day that that would have been her wedding day three of us took a road trip to the seaside. There was lots of wine and tissues involved! Fast car was the theme tune of our trip.
One Day Like This – Elbow
This is such a beautiful uplifting song. It often pops into my head when I’m having an amazing day.
Fly Me to the Moon – Frank Sinatra
This was the song I walked down the aisle to at my wedding so it is full of happy memories for me and my husband.
Back to Black – Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse was a modern legend. Her voice was so beautiful and expressive and this song really shows off her pure talent. I watched the film Amy recently and it just broke my heart that she died way too soon. I hope she is at peace.
Dream a Little Dream of Me – Carpenters
I think this song is so simple and beautiful. I used to sing this to my daughter when she was a baby at bedtime. I would like this song played at my funeral.
Salute – Little Mix
I had to have some proper pop in this list! Me and my daughter love a bit of Little Mix. Their songs are fab!
Pencil Full of Lead – Paolo Nutini
This song gives me a boost when I’m in a bit of a funk, reminding me that we have so much to be grateful for.
“I got a shelf full of books and most of my teeth
A few pairs of socks and a door with a lock
I got food in my belly and a license for my telly
And nothing’s gonna bring me down” Pencil Full of Lead, Paolo Nutini
