Blogtober day 4, Share a Secret

As part of my Blogtober challenge I’ve been given a topic to write about each day of October. Today’s title is “Share a secret about yourself”.

I’ve really struggled to think of any secrets that I have, I’m quite an over sharer! I do have a bit of a weird phobia that I haven’t told many people about. I absolutely hate the feel of sponge and foam. It completely makes my skin crawl. Bath sponges, sponge balls, washing up sponges (those green and yellow ones), foam packaging. I hate the way they all feels. I’m not quite as bad as I used to be I can just about bring myself to touch it but I try and avoid any encounters with sponge.

I’ve had my weird sponge hate as long as I can remember. I went to a gymnastics classes when I was little and begged my dad to not take me anymore when I realised that there was a pit of foam to fall into when you were practicing on the high equipment. I also used to hate those foam balls that they used to use in PE classes when I was at school.

So there it is my very strange secret phobia. I would love to know if there are any other sponge haters in the world – if you share my phobia please let me know!

  1. Wow, how random! My daughter loves sponges, and regularly “washes” everything with one we let her play with. Maybe don’t visit me? Haha!

  2. I’m pretty sure I know someone that used to eat these sponges when they were pregnant….I don’t like the feel of my feed on any fabric other than wool. Or my knees, joints, elbows, hands…I actually have massive sensitivity issues.
