Why I started my blog

This is day 7 of my Blogtober Challenge! My title today is “What made you start blogging?”

I started my blog just over a year ago when my daughter was 6 and my twin boys were 2. Life was really hectic at the time and at times it felt a bit overwhelming. I was working part time too. I felt like I needed a bit of a new challenge to break up the routine and to give me something different to focus on. I love learning new things and always like to have a little project on the go.

I liked to post funny statuses on my Facebook page about the chaos of having 3 little kids. My friends found them really funny and I liked the idea that our experiences could make people laugh. I just happened to read a book at that time where the author had started a blog documenting a year of her experiments to live a happier life. I had a brain wave that this could be the project that I was looking for to turn my little Facebook posts into a blog.

My original idea was just to share our funny everyday moments. Once I got going I found that I just had so many ideas and things that I wanted to write about.

I found a YouTube video that had instructions on how to set up a website, bought my domain name and I was off. I went self hosted straight away as I didn’t know there was any other option. I was so naive! I had no idea how much work was involved or how much I had to get to grips with. I didn’t know anything at the time about the wonderful blogging community that I have discovered. I have made some amazing friends through my blog and they have given me so much help and support.

My blog has become way more than the original little project that I intended it to be. I feel that there is a long way to go on my blogging journey and I’m excited to see what is to come.
